This coming May, the graduate program of interaction design at the School of Visual Arts is celebrating the founding of its five-year anniversary and the work and life of its students, alumni, and faculty.
Since 2009, four classes have (nearly) graduated. Alumni are leading design at companies like Twitter, Facebook, FiftyThree, New York Times, and Johnson & Johnson, studios like IDEO, frog, and R/GA, and have founded their own startups. The department moved twice, opened a maker lab, and changed its visual identity. The curriculum evolved, placing a greater emphasis on making and entrepreneurship.
