Guri Venstad

Class of 2013

Bio

Guri is a versatile designer with the goal to make design comprehensive and attractive. She is concerned with how technology influences our society and how we grow together with it.

She hopes to turn poorly designed user experiences into clever solutions that improve people’s daily life. She appreciates services that are empathetic with good information flow. Even better is when services are one step ahead and anticipates user needs.

Working with both products and services, Guri strives to embody the essence and communicate this in a clear and appealing way. User research, concept development and design thinking are all familiar tools from her undergraduate studies in Industrial Design at The Oslo School of Architecture and Design. The same approach gains insight in user behavior and helps discover important needs. However, Guri seeks a wider, more holistic perspective on challenges within today’s society, not merely solutions culminating in product design. MFA Interaction Design stood out as a compelling opportunity to explore a related, but broader design discipline alongside people of different backgrounds.

Guri is both eager and curious and she enjoys experimenting in the studio as well as in the kitchen. Although she feels home when hiking the mountains back in Norway, she is very excited to exchange them with the city life of New York.
