This April 1, two first-year students, Jennings Hanna and Alex Todaro, collaborated not on an April Fool’s prank, but on shipping a product. It’s called Deja Vu by You, a postcard service that send cards to your future self.
As Todaro writes:
We put the site together in a matter of days and for an MVP I think it’s pretty impressive. Deja Vu by You, is a simple concept, it’s not out to save the world. It’s a product of simple delights. It creates space and permission for someone to check up on themselves. To leave easter eggs in their future, to create a moment of flashback and understand that moments are special when you allow them to be. Hanna terms what they are doing “maternal interaction design:”I am more interested in helping people create an experience for themselves and fostering that into something they will find more meaningful. Someone’s always going to be automating a process that people don’t want to do with any product, but I don’t think of this as much of a product. I think of this as an experiment in user generated nostalgia; hence the name…
Don’t miss interacting with your future self, now.
