When the current identity for MFA Interaction Design was created, President Obama had yet to be sworn into office and the iPhone was only a year old. Since then, two classes have graduated. Alumni are working at companies like Facebook and Johnson & Johnson, agencies like IDEO and R/GA, and students have founded startup initiatives like Coastermatic and Project: Interaction. The department opened a new studio and a state-of-the-art prototyping lab. The curriculum evolved, placing a greater emphasis on making and entrepreneurship.
Today, the department identity moves forward as well. It has been redesigned to simultaneously pay homage to the design legacy of SVA and point Interaction Design towards the future.
