Viola He (she/they) is a Shanghai-born, Brooklyn-based artist and educator. Viola works to re-imagine systems, interfaces, and alternative structures that inspire mutual care among networks of people. Their practice engages with electronics, hardware, movements, writing, and various forms of time-based media to create personal and collective narratives.

Viola is also a dancer, musician, and a part of the livecode.nyc collective where they organize and perform improvisational audio-visuals with algorithmic approaches.

Viola holds a B.A. in Communication from University of Southern California, and a M.P.S. from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunication Program (ITP).
