Jinpei is an industrial and interaction designer from China. He graduated from Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts (SIVA) in 2017, where he studied Industrial Design and Strategic Thinking with Hartmut Esslinger, the founder of frog design, inc. Four years of courses and projects developed his design skills, while also teaching him how to define and solve problems with empathy.
After graduating, Jinpei joined designaffairs, a global design agency, as an industrial designer. This afforded him the opportunity to design products outside of the academic setting. He enjoyed the process of creating great experiences for users through designing hardware for a variety of projects and considering how users will interact with them.
Jinpei thinks that great interaction design is not just about visual presentations, but also about communication through addressing all of the senses. He believes in Naoto Fukasawa’s theory on IxD, namely that ‘industrial design is a version of “interaction design” with objects as the interfaces.’ He is interested in using both types of design to solve complex problems and to create better user experiences.
