Luke Stern

Class of 2015

Bio

Luke Stern has been working in design in one form or another for his entire professional career. Starting in fabrication as a carpenter, he practiced the design and construction of physical things, building temporary and permanent installations for commercial and residential clients such as Martha Stuart, Nike, Proenza Schouler, and Microsoft.

Leaving fabrication, he attended the Interaction Design program at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. The courses there led him to his most recent career path using both physical and digital design to shape experiences for clients such as Citi Bike, Wal-Mart, the Empire State Building, and Hudson Yards.

SVA’s program also led him to co-create Game of Phones with classmate Sam Wander. Game of Phones is a card game where players use their phones to respond to prompts – using a tool we all know very well for something a bit different. In 2014 they launched a successful Kickstarter to bring Game of Phones to life and it now sells worldwide in retailers like Target, Walmart, and Barnes and Noble. He now focuses full-time on Game of Phones and is thrilled to be teaching the very class that it was created in, Entrepreneurial Design.
