With a background in journalism and communications, Seungmi aims to spark change by harnessing the power of design to tackle diverse social issues from a fresh perspective. Hailing from South Korea but having had a taste of California during her childhood, she began to see the world through a different lens when she pursued design.

While working towards her BA at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Seungmi ventured beyond textbooks, freelancing as a translator to explore various fields. This journey unveiled the dynamic potential of design. At YTN, a Korean news channel, she was a global news monitor and translator. This experience led her to realize the dual nature of design—as both a catalyst for innovation and tangible changes in everyday life.

Seungmi embraces the unconventionality of her path, considering each unique step a valuable asset that shapes her problem-solving approach. In that sense, she is determined to engage in technology and design—immersing herself in the human-centered “handles” of emerging technologies.
