Michie’s first and most infamous art piece was a collage created at age four, assembled secretly on the white wall behind her grandmother’s sofa. It was a messy frenzy of creativity that her parents did not appreciate, and was subsequently taken down upon its discovery two weeks later.
Michie has since gone on to pursue her creative passion in more appropriate ways through an architectural design education at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she dreamed up new designs for residential homes, boathouses, and entire city blocks. She also had the opportunity to study abroad in China to research pavilion architecture at the Shanghai 2010 World Expo; train dragons at DreamWorks Animation as a Consumer Products Design Intern; and direct a dance production at UCLA’s Royce Hall as the Art Director for the Chinese Cultural Dance Club at UCLA. Presently, Michie works as a Graphic Designer at UCLA Trademarks and Licensing, where she is developing the department’s website and refining the brand aesthetic of UCLA’s international fashion lines.
Michie hopes to continue her love of crafting environments and experiences through her graduate education at SVA. She looks forward to learning more about user experience and visual interface design and is excited to utilize her skills in architecture, design, and technology to improve the convenience and meaningfulness of people’s day-to-day contact with technology.
